Korean soybean paste is especially known for its creamy consistency and is hard to imagine Korean cuisine without it. It is mostly used for soups, such as doenjang jjigae or tojangguk or doenjangguk, but is really good as a condiment for a variety of dishes or for mixing a sauce.
